How to Pack an Ita Bag for an Anime Convention Without Damaging Your Merch

One packing plan for the merch wall, another for everything you need to carry behind it.
A convention ita bag needs two packing plans: one for the display and one for everything behind it. Secure the merch first, separate hard daily items from fragile pieces, leave room for purchases, then test the fully loaded bag before event day.
• Secure every pin back and holder.
• Shorten or restrain long swinging charms.
• Keep a flat pouch or folder for new paper merch.
• Pack dense items low and close to the body.
• Leave spare interior capacity for purchases.
• Wear the loaded bag at home and check the display again.
Secure the display the night before
Check every pin back, photocard holder and charm attachment. Hold the insert upright and gently move it. Anything that rotates, swings excessively or touches another piece should be fixed before the bag leaves home.
Protect cards from hardware
Use sleeves or holders for photocards and keep hard pin backs or metal chains from pressing directly against card surfaces. If your display compartment is removable, inspect both the front and back before reinstalling it.
Keep loose purchases separate
Bring a flat envelope, small pouch or protective folder for new photocards and paper goods. Do not slide fresh purchases loosely behind the display where they can bend against your everyday items.
Pack heavy items low and close to the body
Power banks, water bottles and other dense objects should sit low in the main compartment when the bag shape allows it. This reduces swinging and keeps the display from being pulled outward unnecessarily.
Convention essentials that deserve their own space
- Phone and power bank
- Wallet / ID
- Water
- Small merch-protection pouch or folder
- Spare pin backs
- Simple cleaning cloth for the clear window
- Any medication or personal essentials you normally carry
Do not overhang charms in crowds
Long exterior chains can catch on clothing, tables or other bags. If a charm is important to the display, consider placing it inside a protected window or shortening the hanging length for the event.
Make room for what you will buy
Do not leave home with the main compartment completely full. Convention purchases have to go somewhere. A little reserved capacity can prevent you from stuffing new items against the display.
Run a final movement test
Put the loaded bag on, walk around, sit down and take it off several times. Check whether the display shifts or the contents push against the window. Fixing that at home is much easier than rebuilding a layout on the convention floor.
