What should you enter for common pins?

Measure your actual badge with a ruler when possible. If you use protective badge covers or decorative holders, measure the finished outside diameter, not the bare pin. A 58 mm pin is 5.8 cm; a 2.25 inch pin is about 5.72 cm.

Why the real number may be lower

  • Clear windows often narrow near seams, curves and zippers.
  • Rosettes and badge holders make a pin effectively larger.
  • Photocards, acrylic charms and keychains consume irregular areas.
  • Leaving negative space usually makes a display easier to read.
  • Pin backs and insert structure can limit where individual badges sit.
