For school, choose the ita bag around your real daily load first. Pack books, supplies and tech before finalizing the display so the main compartment does not bow the insert forward or press fragile merch against the clear window.
1. Pack the actual books, pouch, charger and bottle you use most days.
2. Check whether the loaded compartment pushes toward the display.
3. Use flatter merch on heavier school days.
4. Balance dense items near the center of the bag.
5. Test the fully packed bag on-body before relying on the layout.
Pack the school compartment first
Put in the items you carry on a normal day: notebooks, pouch, charger, bottle and other essentials. This tells you how much pressure the packed main compartment creates behind the display.
If a hard book or pouch makes the insert bow outward, move that item, reduce how tightly the bag is packed, or simplify bulky display layers. The clear window should protect the merch, not become a surface that the merch is constantly pressed against.
Separate hard school items from fragile merch
Photocards and acrylic pieces are more sensitive to rubbing and concentrated pressure than flat pins. Sleeve photocards before putting them in holders, keep metal pin backs away from printed surfaces, and give hanging charms a swing path that does not cross fragile pieces.

Use flatter merch on heavily packed days
If your backpack is full, a flatter display made mostly from pins and sleeved photocards usually needs less depth than a display built around large plushies or thick acrylic pieces. You can keep a more elaborate insert for lighter days, conventions or weekend use.
Keep weight balanced
Do not put every heavy school item on one side of the bag. Uneven packing changes how the backpack hangs and can also tilt loose charms or a flexible insert. Put dense items closer to the center of the main compartment and tighten the shoulder straps evenly.
Make the display removable when possible
A removable insert makes school use easier because the same backpack can switch between a full oshikatsu display and a simpler everyday setup. It also lets you arrange pins on a flat surface instead of repeatedly reaching inside the clear pocket.

Test the bag fully packed
- Pack your actual school essentials.
- Install the finished display.
- Wear the bag for several minutes.
- Set it down and pick it up a few times.
- Check pin backs, holders, charm movement and insert shape again.
The layout should still look controlled after the bag moves, not only when it is lying flat on a table.
