Build comfortably outside the bag
Instead of attaching items directly through the bag, remove the board, work on a table and slide the completed display back behind the clear window. This also makes it easier to inspect pin backs and spacing.
Firm enough to stay flat, workable enough to decorate
Inserts may use mesh, fabric-covered board, foam-like layers or other structured textiles. Measure the usable window rather than the outside bag dimensions, and leave clearance near seams and zippers.
